Short form, v1 — 6 August 2026
We’re committed to protecting your privacy in line with the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
We collect information you give us directly, like your name, email, business details and billing information when you sign up. We also collect the brand names, prompts and competitor details you submit to the Service, and technical information like your IP address and how you use our website and platform.
As part of providing the Service, we also record the responses AI platforms give to the prompts we submit. Those responses are generated by third parties, are outside our control, and may occasionally mention a named individual — for example a business owner or the author of an article an AI platform cites. We don’t seek this information out and don’t verify it; we simply record what the AI platform said.
We use your information to provide and improve the Service, process payments, respond to enquiries and support requests, and communicate with you about your account. We may also use de-identified, aggregated data to produce industry benchmarks and research. We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it to train third-party AI models.
Our platform uses essential cookies to keep you signed in and your session secure — these are necessary for the platform to work and don’t track you elsewhere. Our marketing website (barkingowlai.com.au) uses Google Analytics and advertising cookies to help us understand traffic and run ads. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
We share information with the service providers who help us run Barking Owl AI — including our hosting, database, email and payment providers, and the AI platforms we query on your behalf. We only share what’s reasonably necessary, and we don’t sell your information to anyone. Some of our providers are located overseas, mainly in the United States.
We keep your information for as long as you have an account, and for as long as we need it afterwards to meet our legal obligations. You can ask us to delete your account information at any time and we’ll action that request. The AI responses we capture (“Captured Data”) are kept as our own historical record even after your subscription ends, because they can’t be recreated by asking the same question again — but we handle any personal information within them in line with this policy, including taking reasonable steps to remove it when it’s no longer needed.
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures — including encryption and access controls — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we take this seriously.
You can ask us to access or correct the personal information we hold about you at any time, including anything about you that appears in Captured Data. Contact our Privacy Officer and we’ll respond within a reasonable period.
If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first so we can try to resolve it. If you’re not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be posted on our website.
